Hospice Aide - Hospice of Cincinnati - Central Inpatient
About The Position
Provides direct patient care to Hospice of Cincinnati patients under the direction of a nurse. Assists with or performs basic activities of daily living, including bathing, feeding, and ambulation, and provides companionship and emotional support, including during times of crisis. Follows safety policies and approved procedures. The role is based in the Hospice of Cincinnati Central Inpatient Unit in Blue Ash. The aide may be required to float to the Anderson, Hamilton, and Christ inpatient care centers, as well as provide continuous care and vigils as needed. Mileage reimbursement is offered when floating. Duties include bedside shift reporting and point-of-care charting, and the role requires flexibility and basic computer skills.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Reading and math ability appropriate to the position.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
- Basic computer-system knowledge and keyboarding skills; ability to perform computer-related tasks.
- Ability to meet the listed physical demands, including frequent or consistent lifting, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, and other physical activities.
Responsibilities
- Perform and document basic patient care tasks under the direct supervision of a nurse, including bathing, feeding, assistance with ambulation, companionship, and emotional support.
- Follow regulatory and organizational processes and practices to promote a safe clinical environment.
- Communicate effectively with the patient's interdisciplinary team, the patient, and the patient's family members.
- Perform equipment and supply quality checks and report problems or malfunctions appropriately.
- Monitor supply rooms, report missing supplies, and restock supplies as needed.
- Comply with documentation requirements to ensure accurate reporting of clinical interactions and patient status.
- Conduct bedside shift reporting and point-of-care charting.
- Float to other inpatient care centers and provide continuous care or vigils as needed.
