About The Position

Under general supervision, the Hospice Aide delivers specific aspects of patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This certified nonprofessional worker is specifically trained to provide personal care to patients. The role is part of Gilchrist’s overnight hospice teams at Gilchrist Center Towson, Gilchrist Center Baltimore, or Gilchrist Center Howard, providing inpatient end-of-life care. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of previous experience; current enrollment in an accredited nursing program may be accepted in lieu of experience. Hospice experience is preferred, as is previous experience with dying patients. Candidates must have current registration with the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses as a Certified Nursing Assistant. The role involves providing personal care, assisting with routine patient needs and mobility, observing and reporting changes in patient condition, and supporting patients’ families or caregivers. Work takes place in an inpatient facility, with frequent exposure to varying temperatures, dust, noise, and similar conditions. The role requires the ability to walk and stand for up to 90% of work time and to lift and position patients. Compensation is listed as $17.24–$23.91. Final salary depends on the candidate’s qualifications, education, experience, and alignment with organizational needs.
