About The Position

As a hospice aide, provide compassionate, hands-on care that helps patients remain comfortable and maintain dignity throughout their end-of-life journey. Care for hospice patients wherever they call home, including private residences and assisted living or skilled nursing facilities. Travel within the assigned service area and provide care under the supervision of a registered nurse as part of an interdisciplinary hospice team. The role supports VITAS Healthcare’s commitment to delivering compassionate, personalized care with heartfelt empathy and honoring each patient’s wishes.

Requirements

• Approved hospice aide, home health aide, or nurse aide training and competency.
• Ability to travel as required by the role.
• Certification requirements vary by state: AL—CNA; CA—CHHA; CT—Homemaker-Home Health Aide; DC, DE, FL, GA, PA, TX, VA, WI—CNA, HHA, or HA; IL—HHA or NA; KS, MO—Home Health Aide; OH—State Tested Nurse Aide; NJ—Homemaker-Home Health Aide.

• One year of direct patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with personal care, mobility, and activities of daily living.
• Support nutrition, including simple meal preparation and feeding.
• Provide light homemaking support related to the patient’s care.
• Help patients maintain independence and participate in activities meaningful to them.
• Observe and report changes in a patient’s condition to the registered nurse.
• Travel within the assigned service area to provide care in patients’ homes or care facilities.
