This position requires daily travel within the Lansing service area to provide care to patients in their homes, assisted living facilities, or nursing homes. The role involves providing compassionate, skilled hospice care with a predictable 7-on/7-off night schedule. As a Hospice After Hours Registered Nurse, you will deliver expert nursing care and emotional support to patients and families during overnight hours, responding to urgent needs and ensuring comfort, dignity, and peace at end of life. This role is ideal for an experienced RN who thrives in autonomous practice and is confident making critical clinical decisions in real time. You will provide symptom management, skilled nursing interventions, and compassionate support, collaborating with physicians, hospice leadership, and the interdisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate or Baccalaureate School of Nursing
  • Current State License as a Registered Nurse
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a nurse in a clinical care setting
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and valid automobile insurance coverage
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Hospice or home health experience
  • Previous after-hours or on-call experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, skilled hospice care.
  • Deliver expert nursing care and emotional support to patients and families during overnight hours.
  • Respond to urgent needs.
  • Ensure comfort, dignity, and peace at end of life.
  • Provide symptom management, skilled nursing interventions, and compassionate support during overnight hours.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, hospice leadership, and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Serve as a calm, knowledgeable presence for patients and families throughout the night.
  • Assess and respond appropriately to the physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs of patients, families, and caregivers in a variety of care settings, including homes and facilities.
