About The Position

Primatara, a picturesque estate & horse farm located in Springfield Missouri, is seeking a horticulturist to continue to cultivate the beauty of the property. This role is ideal for someone who is self-motivated, driven, and thrives working with flowers, trees, and plants. Requirements

  • Knowledge of ground maintenance is preferred.
  • Understanding how to use and operate lawn care equipment is helpful.
  • The work can be repetitive and physically demanding.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisor and co-workers.
  • Must be able to work independently and also part of a team environment.
  • An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in horticulture, botany, or natural sciences degree, or at least 5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Constant standing, walking, forward reaching, pedal control and grasping.
  • Frequent head turning, bending, kneeling, stooping, squatting, handling, climbing and reaching.
  • Candidate must be able to lift and carry 50lbs and also push and pull a push mower seasonally.
  • Candidate must be able to pass a job specific post-offer physical prior to beginning employment with Prime, Inc. The physical is job specific and will test strength and mobility.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-Secondary education is beneficial but not required.
  • Certification of a Pesticide Applicator’s License is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Bioswale maintenance, that can include separation and removal of proper vegetation.
  • Perform propagation, irrigation, and pest management of plants.
  • Control plant growth regulation through mixing and testing fertilizers and monitor any injectors that are being utilized.
  • Manage scheduling for timing of appropriate planting.
  • Operate equipment such as trucks, tractors, and sprayers.
  • Responsible for maintaining required knowledge of established garden plants and understanding the cultural requirements to maintain their growth and cultivation.
  • Perform and support horticultural practices that facilitate plant health through understanding soil nutrition, sustainable gardening, and integrated pest management.
  • Turf and lawn maintenance.
