About The Position

Longwood Gardens is seeking a part-time Horticulturist Assistant for the Outdoor Landscape Division. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in the historic Pierre’s Woods and surrounding native plant areas. This individual will join a skilled horticultural team and will learn to perform a wide range of horticultural tasks and duties with guidance. Responsibilities will include watering, weeding, mulching and planting. This individual will work with students, volunteers, and other staff members to create and maintain the garden's horticultural excellence.

Requirements

• Ability to bend, stoop, and lift at least 50 pounds.
• Ability to work from ladders and small equipment.
• A valid driver’s license and be willing to adhere to Longwood’s safety protocols.
• Ability to work occasional weekends to support watering tasks.
• Effective working as part of a team as well as independently.
• Ability to work from ladders.
• Willingness and ability to learn and perform manual repetitive tasks.

Nice To Haves

• A desire to learn and advance in the field of horticulture.
• Basic horticultural experience and experience working in a public garden are preferred.
• Horticultural knowledge and skills would be helpful.
