About The Position
The City of Sarnia is seeking seasonal horticulture staff to work diligently through spring, summer, and fall, providing exceptional service to the city's green spaces and sports fields, while fostering positive interactions with the public. This role involves maintaining garden beds, planters, and hanging baskets with annuals and perennials, including weeding, planting, watering, mulching, and rototilling. Other duties include grass cutting/edging of garden beds and parks, and greenhouse operations. The anticipated term of employment is until November 8, 2026, and successful candidates must be available for the full duration and attend mandatory training.
Requirements
- OSSD (or equivalent)
- Valid Class G Driver’s License with an abstract acceptable to City guidelines
- Experience in landscaping, horticulture, greenhouse operations, and other related work experience
Responsibilities
- Maintains garden beds, planters, and hanging baskets consisting of annuals and perennials across the city.
- Performs maintenance including weeding, planting, watering, mulching, and rototilling.
- Cuts and edges grass in garden beds and parks.
- Assists with greenhouse operations.
