About The Position

Cultivate the landscapes, gardens, and growing environments that help shape the experience of Nemacolin. As a Horticulture Intern, you will gain hands-on experience across ornamental horticulture, hydroponic food production, interior plantscapes, organic gardening, agronomy, and resort grounds operations, while seeing how thoughtful cultivation contributes to both the beauty of the property and the culinary experiences enjoyed by guests. This paid, 12-week internship places you alongside experienced horticulture and agronomy professionals in a Forbes-rated luxury resort, giving you the opportunity to develop practical skills, contribute to meaningful property projects, and explore the many career paths within horticulture and agronomy.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Current second- or third-year student enrolled at an accredited college or university in horticulture or plant science, agricultural science, landscape architecture, hospitality management, or a related discipline
  • Continuous authorization to work in the United States for the duration of the internship
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Fluent English language proficiency required
  • Ability to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Ability to adhere to established appearance standards

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and installation of annual attractions, helping transform the property through thoughtfully planned horticultural displays that complement the resort environment.
  • Support the production and harvest of produce cultivated for restaurant outlets, connecting horticultural craftsmanship directly to the culinary experience.
  • Perform hands-on care for gardens and outdoor spaces, developing an understanding of the precision and consistency required to maintain a luxury property.
  • Contribute to watering, pruning, transplanting, weeding, seeding, harvesting, and sanitation practices that support successful vegetable production in organic gardens.
  • Care for interior plants throughout the resort and help preserve the polished, welcoming environments that guests experience across the property.
  • Gain exposure to Integrated Pest Management and industry-leading maintenance techniques, equipment, and horticultural practices to support thoughtful plant health and sustainability.
  • Rotate through key areas of the department, including ornamentals, hydroponic food production, interior plantscapes, and additional horticultural disciplines to build a well-rounded foundation in resort horticulture.
  • Maintain waterlogs and plant maintenance documentation that support consistent care, informed decision-making, and long-term plant health.
