About The Position

Aecon Field Services Inc. is seeking a Horizontal Directional Driller to join their team in Edmonton and surrounding areas. This role is responsible for all phases of directional drilling tasks to meet or exceed client expectations, reporting to the Superintendent. Requirements

  • Horizontal directional drilling experience or training.
  • CSTS-2020 Certificate
  • Ground Disturbance II (Global or Aztec)
  • Experience running a Vermeer or Ditch Witch HDD drills
  • Valid class 3 or 5 drivers – Class 3 with air brakes preferred.
  • Ability to lift and handle materials up to 25 kg.
  • Complete client’s site-specific training as required.
  • Thorough knowledge of state-of-the-art drilling and surveying technologies and practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with managers, peers, and clients.
  • Candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiar with Digitrak Locating Equipment (F5, F5 Falcon) an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-trip/walk-around safety inspection.
  • Operate Horizontal Directional Drill and/or locating equipment independently and safely.
  • Provide technical support to clients and crew members as required.
  • Keep abreast of all directional drilling techniques and all surveying methods.
  • Manage inventory and supplies.
  • Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving of loads and conduct in response for hand or audio signals from team members.
  • Understand and analyze locate marks, stakes and property markers.
  • Ensure all reporting requirements are fulfilled and communicated daily to the foreman or coordinator.
  • Able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Work with commitment to timelines and deadlines on a daily basis.
  • Adhering to site and Aecon specific policies and regulations.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision as directed by the site foreman.
  • Maintain excellent communication between members of the team and clients.
  • Ability to train, coach, and mentor new hires.
  • Working as a member of the team by assisting other members when required.
