About The Position
Cannon Companies is seeking a Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Operator to join their elite drill crew. This role involves operating drills up to 100k lbs in various ground conditions, performing large pipe bores (up to 28" diameter), and utilizing wireline locating tools and mud reclaimers. The work includes boring under rivers, highways, and mountains for power, water, sewer, or telecom projects. This position requires travel across the PNW and surrounding states.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience on HDD equipment or support gear (skid steers, vac trucks, crane trucks, etc.).
- Proven experience drilling in mixed soils and using appropriate mud mixes.
- Valid Class A CDL.
- Experience with AT Drilling and walk-over locating.
- Ability to troubleshoot, think critically, and take ownership of work.
- Commitment to safety.
- Willingness to travel and maintain flexibility.
Nice To Haves
- Tanker endorsement on CDL.
- Experience with grade bores.
Responsibilities
- Running HDD rigs such as Ditch Witch, Vermeer, and American Auger.
- Reading profiles and executing high-precision bores.
- Mastering TK, DCI, and magnetic locating tools.
- Maintaining a tight schedule, ensuring worksite safety, and client satisfaction.
