About The Position

TEKsystems is seeking an experienced OSP HDD Locator for their client in the DMV market. This client's communications infrastructure group is experiencing consistent growth and expanding its market share across the DMV, supporting various telecommunications customers. Due to industry initiatives focused on capacity and bandwidth demand, they are frequently receiving requests from carriers and MSOs to expand their lines of business and geographical footprint. With their increasing workload, additional scopes from BGE, and internal advancements, the company requires an experienced HDD Locator to manage the growing demand. This role involves working with a 4-person crew, including a CPM, locator, foreman, and operator, to perform underground telecommunications/utility excavation, horizontal directional drilling, conduit/cable placement, and ground restoration.

Requirements

• Solid experience locating underground utilities.
• Experience working with and maintaining a directional drill, specifically a Vermeer 2440.
• Experience with test pitting.
• Experience with drill maintenance.
• Experience mixing mud.
• Confidence maneuvering around underground placements.
• Ability to provide direction to the crew.
• Reliable and dependable.
• Team-player mentality.
• Ability to drive company vehicles.
• Flexibility.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform underground telecommunications/utility excavation.
• Conduct horizontal directional drilling.
• Manage conduit/cable placement.
• Perform ground restoration.
• Locate underground utilities.
• Operate and maintain a directional drill, specifically a Vermeer 2440.
• Perform test pitting.
• Conduct drill maintenance.
• Mix mud for drilling operations.
• Provide direction to the crew to ensure job completion.
• Be involved in all team duties to help drive project efficiencies.
• Provide daily maintenance to equipment.
