About The Position

The Hood Manager position oversees the maintenance of exhaust systems in commercial kitchens and supervises related crews. This role involves direct customer and vendor interaction, hood installation, and performing work after hours. The manager is responsible for inspections, clean-up, maintenance, documenting work with photos, driving to and from job sites, completing paperwork, and maintaining the condition of the truck and equipment. Key duties include cleaning kitchen exhaust systems, fans, roofs, and filters, working safely with ladders and chemicals, and ensuring timely arrival at scheduled appointments. The position requires leadership skills to manage team members and interact professionally with restaurant management and staff, emphasizing honesty and trustworthiness.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Leadership skills, ability to motivate, provide direction, required.
  • Work with hand/power tools
  • Demonstrate critical/ safety forward thinking skills.
  • Collaborator and ability to work with all levels of employees.
  • Strong diligence and accuracy
  • Must have the ability to effectively read, write and communicate in English with employees and customers.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.
  • Must be able to comply with SFS’s Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements, which may also include customer specific requirements based on contractual agreement.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or technical school certification if related field, preferred.
  • Light mechanical ability, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Hood team members
  • Be the main point of contact for customers and vendors
  • Hood Installation
  • Work after hours once facilities are closed, in and outside
  • Often work alone with a helper and must be able to interact professionally with restaurant management and staff and be honest and trustworthy
  • Inspections, clean up and some maintenance
  • Taking photos of work
  • Driving to and from job to shop
  • Filling out paperwork
  • Keeping truck and machine in working condition
  • Cleaning kitchen exhaust systems including fans
  • Roof, filters, working safely with ladders and chemicals
  • Getting to per-scheduled appointments on time
  • Other duties as assigned
