About The Position

The Hood Manager position is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of exhaust systems in commercial kitchens and performing supervisory functions for crews. This role involves managing a team, serving as a primary contact for customers and vendors, and performing installations. The job requires working after hours, often independently or with a helper, and interacting professionally with restaurant management and staff. Duties include inspections, clean-up, maintenance, photography, driving, paperwork, truck and machine upkeep, cleaning kitchen exhaust systems (fans, roofs, filters), safe use of ladders and chemicals, timely arrival at appointments, and other assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent, required
  • Leadership skills, ability to motivate, provide direction, required
  • Demonstrate critical/ safety forward thinking skills
  • Collaborator and ability to work with all levels of employees
  • Strong diligence and accuracy
  • Must have the ability to effectively read, write and communicate in English with employees and customers
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required
  • Must be able to comply with SFS’s Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements, which may also include customer specific requirements based on contractual agreement
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to bend, ascend and descend step stools, ladders and stairs, kneel, lift <60lbs, reach above and below shoulders, stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Employee is required to see in color, close and far distances, peripheral, depth, and adjust focus
  • Employee will occasional be required to balance, crouch, drive, kneel, lift >60lbs, sit, stoop, twist, and work at heights
  • Employees will regularly be required to work outside, and be exposed to hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards and noise
  • Employee will occasionally be required to work indoors in an office setting, work alone and with others
  • Employee must consistently wear all appropriate personal protective equipment, as required by company safety policies while visiting locations

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or technical school certification if related field, preferred
  • Light mechanical ability, preferred
  • Work with hand/power tools

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Hood team members
  • Be the main point of contact for customers and vendors
  • Hood Installation
  • Work after hours once facilities are closed, in and outside
  • Often work alone with a helper and must be able to interact professionally with restaurant management and staff and be honest and trustworthy
  • Inspections, clean up and some maintenance
  • Taking photos of work
  • Driving to and from job to shop
  • Filling out paperwork
  • Keeping truck and machine in working condition
  • Cleaning kitchen exhaust systems including fans Roof, filters, working safely with ladders and chemicals
  • Getting to per-scheduled appointments on time
  • Other duties as assigned
