About The Position

SNAP is looking for a Homeless Outreach Coordinator to join their Essential Connections Core team. This is a hands-on, community-based role working directly with individuals and families experiencing homelessness throughout Spokane and surrounding rural areas. The coordinator will help connect people with housing, resources, benefits, and services while building strong partnerships throughout the community.

Requirements

  • Three years’ experience in homeless outreach, case management, social services or related field; or three years of progressively responsible experience in the social services field.
  • Must have clean driving record and valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to empathize with and advocate for individuals with diverse backgrounds and needs, including those from low-income households
  • Demonstrated communication, life management and motivational skills to promote self-sufficiency rather than supporting dependence
  • Ability to work with various assessment and planning tools
  • Knowledge of local resources with the ability to network and link appropriate services together to meet individual and family needs
  • Proficient in computer operations, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Aptitude and ability to learn technical skills related to job duties
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with emphasis on effectively working in a team environment and with a diverse population
  • Ability to communicate confidently, safely, and effectively with people in crisis situations
  • Housing First and Progressive Engagement models
  • Bloodborne Pathogens training (annually)
  • Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, personal vehicle and insurance for Agency business (mileage reimbursed)

Nice To Haves

  • AA Degree with three years’ experience in homeless outreach, case management, social services, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct street and rural outreach throughout the community
  • Build relationships with individuals experiencing homelessness
  • Complete coordinated housing assessments
  • Help participants connect with housing, benefits, employment, and community resources
  • Coordinate with shelters, service providers, treatment programs, food banks, libraries, community courts, and other partners
  • Complete housing inspections and maintain accurate client and program records
  • Participate in community coalitions, committees, and outreach efforts
  • Track outreach and client information across multiple databases
