About The Position

ElkStone is seeking a design-minded Remodel Sales Designer to join their team. This role focuses on turning qualified leads into beautifully designed, profitable remodel projects. The consultant will manage the client relationship from initial contact through a signed contract, emphasizing active listening, thoughtful design, and clear, accurate proposal presentations. ElkStone specializes in residential basement finishing and custom design-build projects, including various remodel work throughout the home.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in consultative, in-home, or design-build/remodeling sales (residential remodeling strongly preferred).
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and closing ratios in a consultative, commission-based environment.
  • Working knowledge of residential construction processes, materials, and terminology.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and design documents.
  • Strong design sense and ability to create remodel solutions within a client’s budget.
  • Excellent communication and follow-up skills—clear, confident, and professional in person, in writing, and visually.
  • Ability to build trust and rapport quickly with homeowners, realtors, designers, and trade partners.
  • Proficiency in (or willingness to learn) design/CAD and estimating software and Microsoft Office.
  • Comfort with CRM and web-based systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for client appointments and job walks.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with behavioral/communication tools (such as DiSC).

Responsibilities

  • Respond to new leads within 4 business hours and guide prospects from first contact through a signed contract.
  • Qualify prospects, understand their goals, budget, and risk tolerance, and adapt approach to each client's communication style.
  • Maintain at least weekly communication with active prospects, uncovering objections and working towards a clear decision.
  • Conduct in-home consultations and proposal presentations, arranging for clients to sign proposals.
  • Create remodel designs that meet clients’ functional needs and aesthetic goals within their budget.
  • Accurately quote materials, labor, and fees within ElkStone’s estimating standards and margin targets.
  • Prepare and present clear, complete proposals including designs, scopes of work, allowances, and pricing.
  • Partner with Project Managers on pre-proposal job walks, demo and preconstruction meetings, and change orders.
  • Provide clear notes and documentation for accurate job scheduling and processing by admin and operations teams.
  • Support the PM and admin team with proposal- and design-related questions throughout the project.
  • Develop networking and referral relationships to expand ElkStone’s brand presence.
