About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, this role instructs patients and families in infusion therapy administration and delivers direct patient care as required. The Home Infusion RN conducts initial nursing assessments and evaluations to qualify patients for the appropriateness and safety of home infusion therapy, along with any other needed specialized nursing care and educational needs. This role also trains patients and/or caregivers in all procedures and equipment, visits all assigned patients as ordered, and documents client compliance. The RN provides direct patient care as ordered and allowed by state law, inventories patient factors and supplies, and informs the pharmacy of patient needs. Additionally, the role provides feedback on all patients to other healthcare workers and gives suggestions for changes in procedure/protocols.

Requirements

  • RN license
  • Ability to conduct nursing assessments and evaluations.
  • Proficiency in training patients and caregivers.
  • Knowledge of infusion therapy administration.
  • Ability to document client compliance.
  • Ability to inventory supplies and communicate needs.
  • Understanding of state laws regarding patient care.
