Position Summary The Home Infusion Pharmacy Inventory Specialist is responsible for the receipt, storage, tracking, and distribution of pharmaceuticals, compounding supplies, and medical equipment within InfuCare Rx® home infusion pharmacy operations. This role ensures accurate, compliant, and efficient inventory practices that support uninterrupted patient care, including proper handling of controlled substances and hazardous drugs in accordance with state and federal regulations and USP compounding standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1–3 years of experience in home infusion pharmacy inventory, purchasing, or as a pharmacy technician required
  • Active Pharmacy Technician license/registration in the state of employment required (or obtained within a company-defined period of hire, per state requirements).
  • Working knowledge of pharmacy inventory control, purchasing, and procurement processes.
  • Familiarity with DEA controlled substance handling requirements and USP <795>/<797>/<800> sterile and hazardous compounding standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with pharmacy management/inventory software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate across pharmacy, clinical, and logistics teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • home infusion or specialty pharmacy experience strongly preferred.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming pharmaceutical and supply shipments against purchase orders and packing slips; promptly resolve discrepancies with wholesalers and vendors.
  • Maintain accurate perpetual inventory records within the pharmacy management system; perform routine cycle counts and reconcile variances.
  • Monitor par levels and reorder points for medications and supplies; generate and submit purchase orders to maintain appropriate stock levels without overstocking.
  • Rotate stock and manage product expiration dates using first-expired, first-out (FEFO) practices; pull and process expired or recalled product per policy.
  • Store and handle controlled substances, hazardous drugs, and refrigerated or frozen biologics in accordance with DEA requirements, the state board of pharmacy, USP <795>/<797>/<800>, and company policy.
  • Support compliance with Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) requirements, including verification of transaction data and product tracing documentation.
  • Process and document product returns, credits, and destructions; maintain organized files of invoices, receipts, and return authorizations.
  • Coordinate with pharmacists, technicians, and delivery/logistics staff to ensure product availability for scheduled patient deliveries and infusions.
  • Oversee monthly inventory activities as well as periodic physical inventory counts and prepare related documentation and reporting.
  • Identify and escalate inventory shortages, slow-moving stock, or compliance concerns to pharmacy leadership.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe storage and receiving area in compliance with infection control and safety standards.
