About The Position

Senior Helpers of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking compassionate and dedicated Home Health Support Aides to provide in-home senior care. As a personal caregiver, you will be the face of our organization, playing a critical role in helping clients maintain their independence and improve their quality of life. You will assist clients with daily living activities, household tasks, and provide companionship. This is an hourly, non-exempt position with competitive pay, offering full and part-time opportunities across various shifts.

Requirements

  • Ability to treat clients with dignity and respect.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English at an average adult level.
  • Ability to successfully complete Personal Care Services training and skills assessment.
  • Ability to drive to work and have a vehicle available during assignments.
  • Must have flexibility with schedule and be able to work various shifts and days.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to new situations.
  • Demonstrate tact, patience, and good hygiene.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Complete any required health screenings as required.
  • Valid driver’s license with no serious driving violations.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening prior to employment with Senior Helpers.
  • Proof of passing first aid/CPR training within 3 months of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • More than 1 year of Home Care industry or Caregiving work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide companionship and conversation.
  • Perform light housekeeping.
  • Manage household tasks.
  • Run errands.
  • Assist with apparel selection (i.e., laying out clothes).
  • Plan and prepare meals.
  • Handle laundry and linen changing.
  • Provide medication reminders.
  • Provide transportation using the client's vehicle.
  • Assist with ambulation of the client.
  • Assist with daily living activities (personal hygiene, dressing, toileting, eating, etc.).
  • Provide walking assistance.
  • Assist clients to and from bed.
  • Monitor clients with Alzheimer's & Dementia.
  • In sleep-over or live-in situations, prepare sleeping area at night and assist client as needed during the course of the night, notifying the office if assistance is requested more than twice.
  • Document activities in the Care Plan software system (if applicable).
  • Record daily hours worked and daily services performed on the Weekly Time Sheet and Service Log, review with client, and submit the signed form weekly by the required deadline.
  • Report any significant client changes to the office immediately.
  • Follow all policies and procedures as outlined in the Senior Helpers Employee Handbook and Training Manual.
