About The Position
Signature Healthcare at Home is seeking a PRN Physical Therapy Assistant to provide home health services in Whatcom, Skagit, and Island Counties in Northwest Washington. The role involves delivering physical therapy assistant services under the direction of a physical therapist and in accordance with the physician’s plan of care. The position offers flexible, self-directed scheduling based on patient needs and territory, with visits available Monday through Friday during the day. Travel to patients and other agency-related locations is required.
Requirements
- Graduate from a Physical Therapy Assistant program approved by CAPTE and pass a national examination for physical therapy assistants.
- Hold a license and be able to practice in Washington State.
- Hold and maintain an active BLS CPR certification.
- Be able to drive or have access to transportation for agency-related travel.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, and have access to an automobile.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in Home Health or post-acute care.
- Familiarity with Homecare Homebase EMR.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct physical therapy services according to the physical therapist’s directions and the physician’s plan of care.
- Treat patients to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance.
- Direct and assist patients with active and passive therapeutic exercises, muscle reeducation, gait and functional training, transfer activities, and prosthetic training.
- Use physical agents, including heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound, and massage.
- Observe and report patients’ reactions to treatment and changes in their condition to the physical therapist and organization personnel.
- Instruct patients in the care and use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, and prosthetic or orthotic devices.
- Maintain clinical notes, conference notes, and other required records in the patient’s clinical record within prescribed time frames.
