About The Position

CNA / HHA – Hospice Inpatient Care Center VNA Hospice NWI Location: Valparaiso Indiana Job Types: Full-Time and Part-Time Shifts Available: Days, Evenings, and Midnights Make a Difference When It Matters Most VNA Hospice NWI is seeking compassionate and dependable Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and Home Health Aides (HHAs) to join our team at our 6-bed inpatient hospice care center. This role provides the opportunity to deliver hands-on care and comfort to patients with life-limiting illnesses while supporting families during an important stage of life. We are currently hiring for full-time and part-time positions on day, evening, and midnight shifts. Position Summary The CNA/HHA provides direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse, focusing on comfort, dignity, and quality of life. The ideal candidate is compassionate, patient-centered, and committed to delivering exceptional end-of-life care in a supportive team environment.

Requirements

  • Current Indiana Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
  • Completion of a State-approved Home Health Aide training program and certification.
  • Compassionate and caring attitude toward patients and families.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and dignity.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous hospice, long-term care, hospital, or home care experience preferred.
  • Previous healthcare, hospice, or caregiving experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Provide personal care while promoting patient dignity and comfort.
  • Assist with ambulation, transfers, and repositioning.
  • Monitor and report changes in patient condition to the nursing team.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and families.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.
  • Assist with meal setup and feeding as needed.
  • Document care provided according to agency policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary hospice team to ensure excellent patient care.
