About The Position
Compassionate Caregivers is a family-owned home care agency in Columbus, Ohio, seeking Home Health Aides to support clients in their homes and facility settings. The agency emphasizes wellness, excellence, compassion, advocacy, respect, and empathy, and provides caregivers with RN clinical oversight and after-hours support for urgent needs. Caregivers receive predictable schedules based on their preferred weekly hours, with the same days, times, and clients whenever possible. Additional hours may be available but are not mandatory. Client assignments are matched to caregivers based on their demonstrated skills and readiness to provide the required support. Pay starts at $20 per hour and may be higher based on verifiable caregiving experience and skills teach-back with the RN team. Short shifts of one to three hours may pay up to $22 per hour. Approved client transportation is reimbursed at $1 per mile. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is advertised. Other compensation and benefits include referral bonuses, potential monthly cash prizes and bonuses, insurance options, paid time off eligibility, training, and professional development support.
Requirements
- Ability to pass a background check with no disqualifying code.
- Pass a drug test.
- Valid driver's license.
- Social Security card and work visa, if applicable.
- Proof of car insurance.
- Reliable, clean transportation.
- Attention to detail and dependability.
- Ability to support people with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease using compassion, patience, creativity, and a person-centered approach.
- Ability to work in clients’ homes and facility settings.
- Rotating weekends are required for part-time and full-time positions.
Nice To Haves
- Six months of verifiable caregiving experience is preferred; personal references may be considered if experience is not professional.
- HHA certification; certification support is available.
Responsibilities
- Provide care according to the caregiver’s skills and assigned client needs.
- Give medication reminders.
- Perform light housekeeping and meal preparation.
- Assist with bed baths, showers, toileting, and safe transfers.
- Provide Hoyer lift support, catheter care, and ostomy care as assigned.
- Complete accurate documentation and report changes in clients’ conditions to nurses.
- Transport clients to appointments or errands when assigned.
- Provide meaningful socialization to support clients’ mental and emotional well-being.
- Work in clients’ homes and facility settings.
