About The Position
You will be tasked with helping patients with personal hygiene, minor medical needs, housekeeping, and other daily needs as required by the patient. To excel in this role, you should have an interest in healthcare and the ability to work with limited supervision keeping the patient’s needs as your top priority.
Requirements
- Literate, emotionally mature adult in good health possessing integrity, poise, dignity, and good grooming
- Current, valid NYS Driver’s License
- CNA or HHA Certification
- Ability to read, write and follow oral/written instructions in English
- Ability to speak the predominant language of the resident
- Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision
Nice To Haves
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities
- Helping patients with personal hygiene
- Assisting with minor medical needs
- Performing housekeeping duties
- Attending to other daily needs as required by the patient
- Participating in 12 hours of in-service education per year as required by New York State regulations
- Documenting care given
- Recording messages
- Keeping simple records
- Communicating and interacting tactfully with clients, family members, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the public
- Assisting with medication and demonstrating competency
