About The Position

CET is looking for a Home Energy Specialist (Internal Job Title is Residential Energy Consultant) to work with homeowners to identify energy efficiency and electrification opportunities. This role is an opportunity to work in energy efficiency, driving decarbonization and climate action in the Greater Boston area. CET has been helping people and businesses save energy and reduce waste for over 50 years, partnering with various agencies and homeowners to build a just and equitable transition to the low-carbon economy. Inspectors and auditors are critical catalysts for implementing energy measures, and this role has a meaningful impact on the health of our planet. This is a remote, field-based position requiring regular travel throughout the Northern Boston region. Candidates must reside in the Greater Boston area and be able to travel within the territory up to 100% of the time to support customer and program delivery needs. Applications will not be considered if the candidate does not live in or near the specified geographic location.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience working in energy efficiency.
  • Strong math skills with excellent understanding of geometry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with various utility program offerings and analyzing usage patterns.
  • Ability to work independently in a field-based position while successfully meeting program deliverables and expectations.
  • Must be able to work in a collaborative team-based environment.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and background check before the hire date.
  • Must have access to a reliable vehicle for work-related travel, maintain a valid driver’s license, and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.

Nice To Haves

  • BPI certification preferred.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Office, and modeling software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct energy audits of existing homes.
  • Use software, quantify savings, and produce reports documenting recommendations, including building electrification opportunities.
  • Provide excellent customer service during and after the audit, including listening to customers to understand their needs and motivations, answering customer questions clearly, and following up with customers as needed.
  • Ensure that recommendations comply with program requirements for incentives and rebates.
  • Conduct combustion safety and other diagnostic tests.
  • Analyze usage data.
