About The Position

The Home Delivered Meals Driver is responsible for the delivery of noon meals to homebound elderly. The shift is from 10:45 AM until the route is completed, working approximately 2-3 hours per day, Monday through Friday, as scheduled. This position serves the Irvington/North Omaha route. The driver must report to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis, complete all required pre-service orientation and training, and ensure the confidentiality of all client information in accordance with HIPAA regulations. The role requires the ability to understand and comply with various laws, rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines pertaining to ENOA and ENHSA, and to be a strong team player with a positive attitude, maintaining effective work relationships with ENOA staff, clients, and the general public. The driver must be able to operate a motor vehicle, deliver meals to homebound elderly, read city maps, correctly identify client addresses, and assist in meal distribution at food caterer and satellite locations as needed. Additionally, the driver must complete and submit time sheets and mileage forms to their supervisor on a timely basis and notify central office staff of any difficulties encountered during meal delivery. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid motor Vehicle Operator’s License from the State of residence (Nebraska or Iowa) or become licensed in that state within 30 days of date of hire.
  • Must have good driving record (no moving violations within the last twelve (12) months or chargeable accidents within the last two (2) years, as verified through the Department of Motor Vehicles in each state of residence during that time period).
  • Must not have been convicted of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or Driving Under the Influence (DUI) within the last five (5) years.
  • Must have a car and State required car insurance.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Ability to properly deliver the correct meals to client by discerning diet code markings.
  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude at all times, meeting time lines and quality service requirements of the agency.
  • Familiarity and ability to drive in the geographic service area in a variety of road conditions.
