About The Position

Metro Physical & Aquatic Therapy is seeking a motivated and passionate per diem Occupational Therapist to provide in-home care. This is an opportunity for an Occupational Therapist ready to take the next step forward in their career to join a growing organization in a progressive, supportive, and innovative team. All levels of experience are encouraged to apply, and training will be provided for the right new graduate. The role involves providing 1:1 treatment to patients within a designated geographic area, evaluating patients, and developing individualized treatment plans based on physician orders and patient needs. The therapist will deliver care that aligns with professional standards, agency policies, and the prescribed plan of care, while also educating family members and caregivers on proper therapy techniques. The position requires planning and carrying out occupational therapy programs to maintain, improve, or restore physical function, relieve pain, and prevent occupational dysfunction. This includes performing and documenting initial exams, evaluating treatment effects, and adjusting treatments as needed. The role also requires a willingness to treat geriatric patients.

Requirements

  • Occupational Therapist Program Graduate
  • Licensed Occupational Therapist in the state of New York or eligible.
  • Ability to travel to patients’ homes within the assigned geographic territory
  • Strong communication skills between patients, support staff, and management, including timely responses via text, email, phone, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Home health experience is preferred but not required - We will provide you with a mentor to help with documentation and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Accept and treat patients within your designated geographic area
  • Provide 1:1 treatment
  • Evaluate patients and develop individualized treatment plans based on physician orders and patient needs
  • Deliver care that aligns with professional standards, agency policies, and the prescribed plan of care
  • Educate family members, home health aides, and other caregivers on proper therapy techniques
  • Plan, and carry out occupational therapy programs to maintain, improve or restore physical function, relieve pain, and prevent occupational dysfunction in patients.
  • Perform and document an initial exam, evaluating the data to identify problems and determine a diagnosis prior to intervention.
  • Provide timely and accurate documentation for each visit
  • Evaluate effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit
  • Must be willing to treat geriatric patients.
