About The Position

To provide compassionate caring services to clients with developmental disabilities and/or senior care. This role involves assisting clients with daily living skills, providing protective supervision, and adhering to care plans. The services provided are non-medical.

Requirements

  • Must be over 18 years of age.
  • Ability to communicate in English (written and verbal).
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be physically and mentally capable of caring for an individual who is ill, infirm, disabled or vulnerable.
  • Understanding of professional boundaries.
  • Must pass a Washington State background check.
  • Maintain active WA Driver License and Auto Insurance.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. (documentation required).
  • Complete and pass the background check screening upon hire and every two years thereafter, or as requested.
  • Maintain active Certified Home Care Aide (HCA Training Available) and Nurse Delegation and other required certifications.
  • Complete a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education annually.

Responsibilities

  • Caring for a child/adult with special needs who cannot perform certain daily living skills without assistance, or a senior requiring care and assistance or companionship.
  • Implementing assigned clients “Plan of Care”.
  • Assistance with daily living skills including feeding, dressing, personal hygiene, toileting, transferring, and positioning.
  • Assisting the family with housekeeping, shopping, and meal planning/preparation.
  • Providing transportation for clients.
  • Responsible for protective supervision: being available to provide safety, guidance, and protection to the client who cannot be left alone due to impaired judgment.
  • Performing Community First Choice (CFC) work within the bounds of the client’s current living situation unless otherwise stated in the Client Plan of Care.
  • Providing Respite Care, which may be performed within or outside the client’s current living situation at a predetermined, appropriate community location.
  • Reporting accurate hours worked and duties performed on Special Care Agency, Inc.’s approved time sheet.
  • Submitting time sheets by the first of every month, legible and accurate.
  • Maintaining clear understanding of SAILS Washington policy and procedures.
