The Home Care Aide (HCA)/Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) promotes client safety, dignity, independence, and quality of life.

Requirements

  • Washington State Home Care Aide (HCA) certification or active HCA training status within the required timeframe, OR current Washington State Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in good standing.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
  • Food Handlers permit, or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to pass background check and meet state licensing requirements.
  • Ability to pass drug testing.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in home care, home health, or senior living.
  • Experience with dementia or chronic conditions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Attends annual safety and infection control education.
  • Uses safety precautions for patients and self, including proper body mechanics and universal precautions.
  • Knows evacuation plans for each client's home.
  • Supports the mission, values, and goals of Signature Healthcare at Home.
  • Meets agency standards for attendance, punctuality, and professional conduct.
  • Completes mandatory education requirements annually.
  • Follows agency policies and maintains client confidentiality per HIPAA.
  • Attends agency staff meetings as required.
  • Functions as a supportive team member, promoting communication.
  • Meets productivity expectations and manages time effectively.
  • Documents client services legibly, accurately, and according to agency standards.
  • Works independently and asks appropriate questions when unsure.
  • Uses good judgment in difficult situations.
  • Notifies supervisor of delays or absences within established expectations.
  • Solves problems effectively and reports unsafe home environments.
  • Adheres to agency policies, code of conduct, and ethical standards.
  • Assists clients with activities of daily living (ADL's), personal hygiene, transfers, toileting, and ambulation as per the service plan.
  • Performs light housekeeping related to client care, including laundry, linen changes, and tidying living areas.
  • Assists with meal preparation and feeding as directed.
  • Supports clients with shopping, errands, and appointment reminders.
  • Performs delegated nursing tasks under RN delegation (e.g., vital signs, assistance with self-administered medications, blood glucose checks, selected ostomy/catheter/wound care) as permitted by state law and agency policies.
  • Completes all documentation on the same day services are provided.
  • Follows infection control, universal precautions, and safety protocols.
  • Performs any other tasks assigned by the agency according to state-specific regulations.
