About The Position

To provide compassionate caring services to clients with developmental disabilities and/or senior care. This role involves assisting clients with daily living skills, providing protective supervision, and supporting families with household tasks. The services provided are non-medical.

Requirements

  • Must be over 18 years of age.
  • Ability to communicate in English (written and verbal).
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be physically and mentally capable of caring for an individual who is ill, infirm, disabled or vulnerable.
  • Must notify supervisor immediately of any conditions that would prevent job duties.
  • Understanding of professional boundaries.
  • Must pass a Washington State background check.
  • Maintain active WA Driver License and Auto Insurance.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. (documentation required).
  • Complete and pass background check screening upon hire and every two years thereafter, or as requested.
  • Maintain active Certified Home Care Aide (HCA Training Available) and Nurse Delegation and other required certifications.
  • Complete a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education annually.

Responsibilities

  • Caring for a child/adult with special needs or a senior requiring care and assistance or companionship.
  • Implementing assigned clients' Plan of Care.
  • Assisting with daily living skills including feeding, dressing, personal hygiene, toileting, transferring, and positioning.
  • Assisting families with housekeeping, shopping, and meal planning/preparation.
  • Providing transportation.
  • Responsible for protective supervision, ensuring safety and guidance for clients with impaired judgment.
  • Performing Community First Choice (CFC) work within the client’s current living situation unless otherwise stated.
  • Providing Respite Care, which may be performed inside or outside the client's current living situation.
  • Reporting accurate hours worked and duties performed on approved time sheets.
  • Submitting time sheets by the first of every month, ensuring they are legible and accurate.
  • Maintaining a clear understanding of SAILS Washington policy and procedures.
