About The Position
As a Herd Technician, you will play a vital role in the daily production operations on a hog farm. Working as part of a supportive team, you will directly impact the health, safety, and welfare of our animals in a clean, well-managed environment. You will focus on the hands-on, breeding, and farrowing of our herd.
Requirements
- A positive attitude and a desire to contribute actively to a collaborative farm team.
- Ability to quickly spot and report changes in animal behavior, equipment issues, or environmental variances.
- Commitment to following safety rules, environmental laws, and company emergency policies.
- Comfort working on your feet, bending, stooping, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds regularly.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily feeding, watering, processing, castrating, and tagging of gilts and pigs.
- Safely handle, catch, and load sows and pigs across farrowing and breeding areas.
- Monitor barn rooms, adjust ventilation controls, and maintain the perfect climate for animal comfort.
- Power-wash walkways, disinfect docks, and maintain strict biosecurity and farm cleanliness protocols.
- Complete simple, accurate data tracking sheets and animal care paperwork on time.
