Hockey Assistant Coach - Winter 2026-2027
About The Position
Two Assistant Coach positions are available for the Winter 2026-2027 hockey season at Mt. Hope High School. One position is a traditional assistant coach role, and the other will focus specifically on working with the goalies within the program. The salary for these positions is dependent upon funding and sufficient sign-ups. Coaches are expected to be knowledgeable and skilled in hockey techniques. The head coach is responsible for promoting, coordinating, and improving the sport, while all coaches report to the Athletic Director. Athletics is considered an integral part of the educational process, and coaches are expected to promote their programs with enthusiasm, ability, and determination, considering aspects such as administration, budget, rules, equipment, travel, scheduling, team management, and certification. At Bristol Warren Regional Athletics, the student-athlete's education is prioritized. Coaches must believe in the educational value of athletics and adhere to program rules. They are expected to demonstrate respect, loyalty, character, sportsmanship, and honor, and to develop athletes as citizens. The goal is to ensure a positive athletic experience for each student-athlete and the school community. While winning is valued, so are personal growth, teamwork, and preparation for life beyond school.
Requirements
- Rhode Island Certificate for Athletic Coach (NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching and Sudden Cardiac Arrest courses required).
- Current Red Cross certification(s) in CPR and First Aid required.
- Annual recertification for NFHS RI rules test and Concussion course required.

Nice To Haves
- Experience with secondary school level coaching preferred.
Responsibilities
- Promoting, coordinating, and continually improving the interscholastic sport.
- Ensuring the content, conduct, and coordination of the program.
- Promoting and upgrading the interscholastic program through enthusiasm, ability, and determination.
- Taking into account administration, budget, rules and regulations, equipment and uniforms, team travel, scheduling, team management, & certification.
- Developing each athlete as a citizen of the community.
- Ensuring that each student-athlete’s athletic experience is a positive one.
- Working directly with the goalies within the program (for one position).
