About The Position

This position is for an Assistant Girls Basketball Coach for the Winter 2026-2027 season at Kickemuit Middle School. The role is dependent upon funding and sufficient sign-ups. Coaches are expected to be knowledgeable and skilled in their sport, promoting and improving the interscholastic program. The head coach is responsible for program coordination, while all coaches report to the Athletic Director. Athletics are considered an integral part of the educational process, and coaches are expected to foster enthusiasm, ability, and determination to upgrade their programs, considering areas such as administration, budget, rules, equipment, travel, scheduling, team management, and certification. The program emphasizes the student-athlete concept, with a belief in the educational value of athletics and adherence to program rules. Coaches should demonstrate respect, loyalty, character, sportsmanship, and honor, aiming to develop athletes as community citizens and ensure a positive athletic experience. While winning is valued, personal growth, teamwork, and preparation for life beyond school are also priorities.

Requirements

• Rhode Island Certificate for Athletic Coach (NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching and Sudden Cardiac Arrest courses required).
• Current Red Cross certification(s) in CPR and First Aid required.
• Annual recertification for NFHS RI rules test and Concussion course required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with secondary school level coaching preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promoting, coordinating, and continually improving the interscholastic sport program.
• Ensuring adherence to rules and regulations of the program.
• Demonstrating respect, loyalty, character, sportsmanship, and honor on and off the court.
• Developing each athlete as a citizen of the community.
• Ensuring each student-athlete’s athletic experience is a positive one.
• Managing administration, budget, rules and regulations, equipment and uniforms, team travel, scheduling, and team management.
