HME / DME Billing Analyst
About The Position
The HME / DME Billing Analyst works in the Chelseacare DME department at Chelsea Hospital. This full-time, 40-hour-per-week, fully on-site day-shift role supports ChelseaCare HME colleagues and provides logistical assistance to the HME Manager. The analyst handles tasks related to durable medical equipment and supplies, including order processing, insurance eligibility and authorization, accounts receivable, invoices, and billing. The role also requires protecting confidential patient, physician, employee, and visitor information and discussing it only with appropriate personnel in private settings.
Requirements
- Minimum high school education.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to commute to the in-person work location for each scheduled workday.
- Computer experience.
- Excellent customer satisfaction skills.
Nice To Haves
- Medical billing certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Process accounts receivable for equipment and services rendered.
- Verify the completeness and accuracy of orders before claims submission and address insurance-related issues.
- Process monthly patient statements and initiate collections.
- Review updates to insurance and governmental guidelines and regulations.
- Process physician orders, check insurance coverage and eligibility, provide financial quotes to patients, and obtain insurance authorizations.
- Triage incoming faxes and route them to the appropriate person or file documents in patient records, as needed.
- Monitor software work queues and work to resolve issues such as incorrect or missing orders and expired or missing CMNs that prevent equipment or supplies from being dispensed.
- Provide customer service for billing issues.
- Contribute to cost-containment initiatives.
- Maintain the confidentiality of information pertaining to patients, physicians, employees, and visitors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
