About The Position

This full-time position is within the Philadelphia Department of Public Health AIDS (PDPH), Division of HIV Health (DHH), HIV/AIDS Epidemiology Unit. The position will report to the DHH Senior Epidemiologist and will work on data activities for both existing and newly implemented activities about the Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) initiative. Collaboration with other DHH units and other epidemiologic staff in other PDPH divisions is also required as necessary.

Requirements

  • Experience with data analysis software is required.
  • SAS (preferred)
  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data management and other analytic software, such as Tableau, RedCAP, MS Access, and/or R Shiny, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of HIV/AIDS and associated laboratory testing preferred

Responsibilities

  • Managing and evaluating data collected by the DHH Surveillance Unit as directed by the Lead Epidemiologist, EHE Evaluator, or the DHH Director.
  • Analyzing data and preparing summaries of data analyses as directed, including reports, manuscripts, and presentations, which could include tables, graphs, and maps
  • Contributing to Not in Care (NIC) case identification and investigation through database development, data entry, data analysis, and other projects as directed by the HIV/AIDS program manager or the Medical Director, DHH.
  • Participating in EHE dashboard development, routine updates, and maintenance as directed by the EHE Evaluator.
  • Prepare written documents, reports, and grant-related elements as they pertain to DHH Surveillance Unit and/or EHE activities.
  • Contributing to the development of interventions to reduce HIV disease transmission or improve access to care.
  • Presenting analytic findings in various settings, including DHH, community, state, or national meetings, as directed.
  • Represent DHH and the Philadelphia Department of Public Health at local, regional, state, and national professional meetings and conferences as directed by the Lead Epidemiologist or the DHH Director.
  • Help assure that the activities of the DHH HIV/AIDS Surveillance Unit are in accord with other local, state, and federal response plans, and with appropriate local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Review and evaluate technical reports, planning documents, and incorporate them into current DHH surveillance activities and City plans.
  • Collaborating with the DHH Director, Surveillance Manager, and other surveillance staff on CDC-funded surveillance projects.
