About The Position

The HIV Medicine Physician (MD/DO) plays a critical role in delivering comprehensive medical care to individuals living with HIV/AIDS, aiming to improve their health outcomes and quality of life. This position involves treating HIV infection and providing comprehensive primary care through evidence-based clinical practice. The provider will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to care for patients with complex medical and diverse socio-economic situations. The practice setting is a federally funded clinic which provides access to care for all persons without regard to ability to pay for services.

Requirements

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Valid and unrestricted medical license.
  • Board certification in Internal Medicine, HIV Medicine, Family Medicine or Infectious Disease with experience caring for persons living with HIV.
  • Knowledge of current HIV treatment and primary care guidelines.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and telemedicine platforms.
  • The HIV Medicine Provider utilizes clinical assessment and diagnostic skills daily to evaluate patient health and disease progression.
  • Strong communication skills are essential for educating patients about complex treatment regimens and promoting adherence.
  • Collaboration and teamwork skills enable effective coordination with multidisciplinary teams to address the comprehensive needs of patients.
  • Analytical skills are applied to interpret laboratory results and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
  • Staying informed about the latest research and treatment advances ensures the provider delivers evidence-based, high-quality care.

  • Experience working in a Community Health Center.
  • Experience working in a Ryan White funded clinic.
  • Experience working with patients experiencing homelessness, substance use disorder, and serious mental illness.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guideline-supported HIV treatment and comprehensive primary care for persons with HIV.
  • Facilitate and support multidisciplinary care for patients with co-morbid psychiatric conditions
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including social workers, dentists, psychiatrists, therapists and street outreach workers to ensure holistic patient care.
  • Stay current with advances in HIV and primary care treatment guidelines, and emerging therapies to provide up-to-date care.
  • Document patient encounters accurately and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and confidentiality standards.
