The Anatomic Pathology Department has a full-time opportunity for a Histotechnologist. This role involves proficiency in all areas of routine histologic preparation, including paraffin embedding, microtomy, routine and special staining. The selected candidate will also be proficient in surgical pathology/gross room activities such as accessioning, surgical specimen handling and processing, and frozen section technique. Autopsy skills are desirable but not required. The Histotechnologist performs routine and complex histologic techniques like enzyme histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, in-situ hybridization, and immunofluorescence on tissue samples for microscopic examination by a pathologist to diagnose disease. The position requires knowledge in pathology, management, education, and regulations impacting histotechnology, and acts as a technical resource for the department. This role is critical to St. Joseph's Hospital Medical Center's success and requires active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Dignity Health.
