About The Position

Our Anatomic Pathology Department has a full time opportunity for a Histotechnologist to join our team!. The selected candidate will be proficient in all areas of routine histologic prep, including paraffin embedding, microtomy, routine and special staining. Proficient in surgical pathology / gross room activities including accessioning, surgical specimen handling and processing, frozen section technique. Autopsy skills desirable but not required. Performs both routine and complex histologic techniques such as enzyme histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, in-situ hybridization, and immunofluorescence on tissue samples for microscopic examination by a pathologist to diagnose disease. Knowledgeable in the areas of pathology, management, education, and regulations that impact the field of histotechnology; acts as a technical resource for the department. Located in Phoenix, AZ, this position is critical to the success of St. Joseph's Hospital Medical Center and requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Dignity Health. Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree and successful completion of an accredited Histotechnology program, or Bachelors Degree and one year full time acceptable experience in a histopathology laboratory within the last 5 years including fixation, embedding, microtomy, processing and staining, and successful completion of an accredited Histotechnology program
