About The Position

NeoGenomics is looking for a Histotechnologist for a temporary Travel contract who wants to continue to learn in order to allow our company to grow. The Histotechnologist works under general supervision precisely and accurately performs a variety of routine and specialized histology techniques and procedures. The Histotechnologist will research, troubleshoot, and resolve histology related inquiries and problems within the laboratory. This position requires the production of the highest quality of embedding, microtomy, tissue grossing, tissue processing, H&E staining, manual and automated special staining, immunohistochemistry, and equipment maintenance.

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment while maintaining production and quality standards
  • Must be able to work in a biohazard environment and comply with safety policies and standards outlined in the company’s Safety Data Sheet Database
  • Good visual acuity including color perception required for certain departments

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years as an ASCP Histotechnician/Histotechnologist preferred (Level I)
  • 4+ years as an ASCP Histotechnician/Histotechnologist preferred (Level II)

Responsibilities

  • Receives tissue specimens and ensures proper accessioning and labeling of all tissue samples
  • Processes paperwork associated with accessioning and reporting
  • Performs routine and non-routine activities involved in the preparation of slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologist(s), according to established Standard Operating Procedures
  • Performs microtomy according to established Standard Operating Procedures
  • Embeds processed tissue in paraffin wax
  • Performs coverslipping of stained slides either manually or automated
  • Performs all special stain procedures according to established Standard Operating Procedures
  • Performs filing of blocks and slides
  • Maintains laboratory in a clean, functional state, as well as cleaning, performing or scheduling equipment and instrument maintenance/calibration/certification, as required. Documents remedial actions such as repairs or repeated tests
