About The Position

The Histotechnologist receives and processes histology specimens using various methodologies, complex machinery, and staining systems. The role primarily involves preparing and processing pathology specimens for pathologist review and diagnosis. Responsibilities include staining slides using routine, special, and immunohistochemical stains, and labeling, entering, and tracking specimens until they reach the pathologist. The position serves patients across all age groups, from neonates through geriatrics. Work may involve periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads in a general office environment, exposure to weather conditions, noise, bright lights, limited hazardous substances, body fluids, human blood, and other potentially infectious materials, as well as interruptions and periods of working alone. Universal precautions and personal protective equipment are required, and the employee must learn and follow infection-control policies. The position requires physical activity including lifting and carrying, pushing and pulling, stooping, kneeling, squatting, climbing, balancing, and bending. Work positions include sitting, walking, and standing. Additional demands include manual dexterity, shift work, reaching above the shoulder, repetitive arm and hand movements, finger dexterity, and color and distance vision. The role may involve exposure to chemicals, moving mechanical parts, dust or fumes, electrical hazards, high-pitched noises, and gaseous risks. Mental and sensory demands include recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, clear speech, legible writing, reading, and logical thinking. The work may be fast-paced or steady-paced, involve multiple priorities and frequent, intense customer interactions, and require adapting to frequent change. The compensation range is $28.22–$42.28. Actual salary offers depend on relevant work experience, credentials, and qualifications. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is offered for offers accepted by November 30, 2026; terms and conditions apply.
