About The Position

Requirements

  • HTL (ASCP) or equivalent Certification
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year of experience preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • HTL-ASCP or equiv

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing a variety of routine and/or complex tests and procedures on tissue and related surgical specimens submitted for histological examination.
  • Tasks to include, but not limited to, microtomy, embedding, staining, reagent preparation and procedure validation.
  • Performs, prepares, and documents quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary.
  • May assist supervisor in maintaining quality plan, procedure manual, variance management, interdepartmental functionality, and writing policies/procedures.
  • Understands test principles, theory, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of all instrumentation in assigned areas.
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking skills to perform above tasks and responsibilities.
  • Trained to perform tissue gross examination as needed. (Must meet the High Complexity qualifications as written in CLIA 42CFR493)
