About The Position

The Histotechnician 3 performs and monitors various anatomic procedures and processes. They assume responsibility for problem resolution and train others in all department aspects with minimal supervision. Requirements

  • Must hold HT or HTL credentials with at least 5 years of routine histology experience.
  • No IHC or Gross room duties but must be able to perform Lead Tech task for routine day shift.
  • Knowledge of laboratory regulations, protocols and procedures.
  • Statistical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions.
  • Ability to perform laboratory protocols and procedures.
  • Skill in the use of computers and related software applications.
  • Knowledge of safety and infection control standards.
  • Fosters a positive and productive work environment that furthers the quality and effectiveness of patient care.
  • H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
  • 2 Years of Experience
  • ASCP-Histotechnician (ASCP-HT), ASCP-Histotechnologist (ASCP-HTL): Must have one of the following: ASCP-Histotechnician or ASCP-Histotechnologist.

Responsibilities

  • Perform variety of technical procedures resulting in creation of microscopic slide preparations.
  • Follow quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures.
  • Recognize and take appropriate action when established procedures and policies are not followed.
  • Perform instrument maintenance, maintain appropriate inventory of supplies and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Maintain effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
  • Participate in laboratory projects and educational activities.
  • Demonstrates and educates laboratory methods, technical skills and provide direction to others.
  • Performs all delegated functions as defined by facility CLIA Director. Assume leadership responsibility in the absence of Supervisor/Manager.
