About The Position

This position requires an individual to perform routine histological functions including specimen handling, accessioning, processing, embedding, cutting, H&E staining and labeling of slides, blocks and specimen containers that come through histology. This position may also require an individual to document daily routine maintenance, file slides/blocks accurately, change chemicals routinely, accession specimens, and perform low complexity special stains.

Requirements

• A minimum of an Associate’s degree -or a combined thirty-six (36) credit hours in a Science related field including six (6) hours of Biology and six (6) hours of Chemistry, is required.
• HT (ASCP) required. Eligibility for certification may be acceptable with the understanding that certification will be required within the probationary period (180 days).
• Employees hired after (MOU Effective date here)are required to maintain this certification or obtain it within the probationary period.
• Knowledge of The Joint Commission, CAP, FDA regulatory standards and guidelines as applicable.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to effectively solve multiple problems and troubleshooting is preferred.
