About The Position

This position requires an individual to perform routine histological functions including specimen handling, accessioning, processing, embedding, cutting, H&E staining and labeling of slides, blocks and specimen containers that come through histology. This position may also require an individual to document daily routine maintenance, file slides/blocks accurately, change chemicals routinely, accession specimens, and perform low complexity special stains.

Requirements

A minimum of an Associate’s degree -or a combined thirty-six (36) credit hours in a Science related field including six (6) hours of Biology and six (6) hours of Chemistry, is required.
HT (ASCP) required. Eligibility for certification may be acceptable with the understanding that certification will be required within the probationary period (180 days).
Employees hired after (MOU Effective date here)are required to maintain this certification or obtain it within the probationary period.
Knowledge of The Joint Commission, CAP, FDA regulatory standards and guidelines as applicable.

Ability to effectively solve multiple problems and troubleshooting is preferred.
