About The Position

National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) specializes in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States. This specific opportunity is with the National Park Service (NPS), where experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills through the Experienced Services Program (ESP). Please note that positions listed do not guarantee employment for any definite period, and enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs is temporary and at-will. An 'Enrollee' is not a federal employee or an employee of NEW Solutions, but a participant in a grant program. This opportunity is for applicants legally eligible to work in the United States. The position is funded for up to 100 total hours and involves occasional overnight travel and anticipated air travel to reach four MAPR locations.

Requirements

• Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in Historic architecture and the treatment of historic properties OR BA/BS Degree in Historic architecture and the treatment of historic properties with minimum additional experience of 5 year(s) in Historic architecture and the treatment of historic properties
• Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook, MS SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat BlueBeam or other design software

Nice To Haves

• AIA membership and/or architecture license is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Support historic preservation needs of MAPR park assets on an 'as-needed' basis in response to technical assistance requests from DOE, who is the owner of all MAPR historic properties.
• Conduct architectural inspections of MAPR structures and buildings to assess physical condition and determine likely causes of failure.
• Recommend treatments compliant with the Secretary of the Interior’s Treatment of Historic Properties to address deficiencies and help ensure the long-term preservation of historic properties.
• Support park compliance needs for projects with the potential to affect historic properties.
• Review and comment on architectural reports and plans produced by others that relate to MAPR historic properties.
