The Historic Preservation Planner performs highly responsible managerial, administrative, and professional work in the oversight of development activities within, and the preservation of, the City’s Historic Preservation Districts and resources. An employee in this class functions as the City’s expert in historic preservation and archaeology and is responsible for administering and making independent decisions as they pertain to effects of the City’s historic and prehistoric archaeological sites by local government for preservation, as well as coordination of land use and development applications within the City’s Historic Preservation Districts. This position ensures compliance with all federal, state, and city historic preservation regulations and regulations on city-owned property and rights-of-way and also provides archaeological expertise and responds to inquiries from state agencies and the public regarding archaeological issues. Works under the general supervision of the Planning & Zoning Manager or his/her designee, and performance is assessed by the results obtained.
