About The Position

CoxHealth is seeking a Histology Technologist to join their Laboratory South team. This role is responsible for assisting with the processes and preparation of histologic slides for microscopic examination and diagnosis by pathologists. The technologist will perform specialized staining and processing as requested, troubleshoot instrument or equipment malfunctions, and ensure specimen integrity. Critical thinking is essential to assess questionable processes or results and correct them or present them to a supervisor/pathologist for resolution. This is a full-time, day shift position working 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree must be obtained within 90 days AND completion of NAACLS accredited Histotechnician or Histotechnology program OR one year of full-time acceptable experience in a histopathology.
  • Certification as a Histotechnologist from a nationally accredited certifying agency within 90 days of hire.
  • Excellent organizational, customer relations, planning and analytical skills.
  • Strong mental and visual concentration.
  • Ability to work independently with sufficient knowledge of all aspects of the Cytology department.
  • Good hand/eye coordination.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful completion of an accredited Histotechnician Program or 2 years on the job training.
