About The Position
Histology Technologist II - Full-Time, Days. Bring your passion to Texas Health so we are Better + Together. Work location: Texas Health Dallas, 8200 Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas, Texas 75231. Work hours: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 6:00a – 2:30p. Anatomic Pathology Department highlights: Frozen Section Assistance, Special Stains, Immunohistochemistry.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- HT (ASCP) Histotechnician required within 6 months from hire
- HTL (ASCP) Histotechnologist required within 6 months from hire
Nice To Haves
- Associate Degree preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Lab Science or Chemical, Physical or Biological Science preferred
- One-year experience in histopathology preferred
Responsibilities
- Follows laboratory procedure for specimen collection, handling, and processing.
- Accessions surgical and cytology specimens.
- Cuts and stains, thin quality frozen sections within 20 minutes of receipt to diagnosis
- Embedding
- Performs special stains
- Evaluate stains
- Gives proper notification when supplies need to be ordered
