This position involves obtaining, processing, embedding, cutting, mounting, and staining patient tissue samples. The technician will prepare microscope slides, reagents, and solutions, and perform data processing functions such as specimen accessioning and labeling, creating tissue cassettes, and generating Histology worksheets. The role also includes assisting Pathologists and Pathologist Assistants with frozen section and grossing room procedures, performing special stains, and documenting equipment troubleshooting and maintenance. Additionally, the technician will assist with procedure manual revisions, quality control, instrument maintenance, quality assurance, and the development of new methodologies. They will also be involved in teaching new employees, presenting in-services, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring a clean and safe work environment. Professional growth and adherence to departmental policies are also key aspects of this role.
