About The Position

The Histology Technician I prepares and processes tissue specimens for examination and diagnosis by a pathologist. The role also maintains instruments and performs and monitors quality control. Requirements

High school graduation or equivalent.
One year of experience in clinical or histopathology, preferably within the last three years.

Responsibilities

Prepare and process surgical, autopsy, bone marrow, body fluid, and biopsy specimens for gross and microscopic examination by a pathologist.
Prepare frozen sections of surgical specimens for microscopic examination by a pathologist.
Prepare solutions for stains and special procedures.
Perform preventive maintenance on common instruments and maintain required maintenance records.
Perform basic quality control, identify quality control problems, and participate in quality assurance monitors.
Answer telephones and communicate verified test results by phone.
Type procedures, file paperwork and slides, fax documents, and perform data entry and retrieval as required.
Assist with inventory of supplies.
