Requirements

2 - 4 years of Histology experience
Intermediate computer skills
Strong communication skills, verbally and written.
Manual Dexterity and strong attention to detail

Nice To Haves

ASCP HT Certification
Associate's degree in biology or related field

Responsibilities

Preparing slides from tissue samples for the pathologist to review.
Prioritizing testing procedures and completing those procedures in an accurate and timely manner.
Maintaining proper accurate records of all tests done in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.
Daily cleaning and set up of work area to include instruments, waterbath, microtome, and workbench.
Paraffin embedding of routine Anatomic Pathology tissue specimens.
Producing quality sections of all paraffin embedded routine Anatomic Pathology tissue specimens cutting of all "levels", "recuts", "re-embeds" and stains.
Checking "H&E" control for stain quality.
Daily maintenance of the Prisma stainer and coverslipper.
Retrieving correct tissue blocks and slides from storage areas.
Maintaining special stain control bank and cutting control blocks as needed.
Troubleshooting Prisma stainer issues.
