Histology Technician II
About The Position
The Histology Technician II assists pathologists in preparing tissue specimens for pathological diagnosis. The role includes documenting specimen accession, preparing tissue for gross examination and description, and processing tissue blocks into slides for microscopic evaluation. The technician processes frozen sections, biopsies, and bone marrow biopsies, and performs special stains as needed. The position also involves filing tissue blocks and slides for reference, participating in training personnel unfamiliar with histological techniques and theory, and preparing specimens for consultations and reference work. The technician performs routine maintenance and quality control on laboratory equipment and assists with troubleshooting technical equipment or procedure problems.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Two years of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
- Histotechnician licensure preferred.
